I really
liked the Rational Unit a lot more than I thought I would. I was pretty nervous going into this unit
because fractions are not my strong point but I was surprised to find it not
too difficult and actually somewhat enjoyable!
I really liked working with the graphs in this unit just like the
polynomials unit and even though the sign charts took time to complete, I thought
they were a really cool way to confirm what the graph looked like as it
approached the asymptotes. I also
enjoyed solving rational equations. I
remember solving simple rational
equations in previous math classes but I thought that this unit was a great way
to review the material and practice with more complex equations.
My
favorite part of the rational unit was simplifying fractions over
fractions. When I was taking the pretest
and saw the problem with the two fractions divided by two more fractions, I was
really intimidated and I didn't even want to attempt it! Even when we were handed the packet with all
of the practice problems, I thought it was going to be super hard. But I really liked the strategy of
simplifying the two fractions on top and bottom and then flip 'n multiplying
the two. After some practice, I felt
really confident simplifying the large fractions and now I won't be nervous if
I come across a problem like that in the future.
Overall, I really liked learning about rationals and becoming more comfortable with fractions. I am
looking forward to learning more about logs and exponential equations and
finishing off the trimester strong!

How do we know that
the following fractions are in Europe ? A/C, X/C and W/C ?
Because their numerators are
all over C's!!!!
I wish more students were as positive as you!
