Inspiration

My Inspiration

When you talk about inspiration, many people think music, family, and friends inspire them.  Something different inspires me, although my family does inspire me, people from different countries inspire me.

People may ask why this inspires me.  A while back, my dad had me do research about different genocides going on and how men and women were getting treated; killed, sexually assaulted, made slaves or prisoners.  When girls or women try to go to school, men throw acid in their faces and tell them to go back home because they don't belong in school, they belong at home taking care of children and cleaning the house.  They shoot them for leaving the home and harass them while they are trying to get a future.  But, these women and children are not giving up.  They are fighting to have and keep a future they actually want.  They realize that anything they can get is luck.  So, they fight back, continue to go to school, try to find jobs, and protect their family.

This inspires me to realize how lucky I am.  Not only am I given school, it's an actual law for me to go. When I start to feel bad for myself, I realize how lucky I am to have a roof over my head and food in my kitchen because when people go to bed starving and die the same way.  I think when people overcome the impossible, it makes me cease every opportunity given, and take any advantage I can from it.

  1. This made me think of my favorite quote by Christopher Reeve, “So many of our dreams at first seem Impossible, then they seem Improbable, and then when we Summon the Will, they soon become Inevitable.” I'm glad your dad inspired you to learn about other cultures and the difficulties they endure every day.
